A video appeared on social networks in which the author claimed that a Soviet ZIL was being used at Chisinau International Airport to transport passengers’ luggage. “Look at how luggage is loaded into the ZIL from the aircraft. Have you seen a ZIL like this anywhere? Only in Chisinau,” the author of the video says in the background, reports realitatea.md
Representatives of the airport denied this information.
“The video shows a vehicle of the APK-10 type – a vehicle with a lifting body. APK-10 is designed for transporting and loading cargo, luggage and mail into aircraft. The APK-10 has a design consisting of a scissor lift mechanism with a cargo platform mounted on the vehicle chassis. The chassis is equipped with hydraulic retractable supports for stability during operation, which is used exclusively for the purpose of loading/unloading cargo as well as mail parcels.
It should be noted that it has never been used to carry passengers’ luggage,” airport officials say.
Airport officials also note that:
“The airport has a Mercedes vehicle with a platform up to 5 metres high, depending on the height of the door and cargo area of the aircraft, which is used for the same purposes as the one in the video.
At the same time, it should be noted that the Chisinau airport is in the process of purchasing additional equipment and machines, which takes time, but they will be delivered soon,” the airport representatives assured.
