The Central Election Commission announced that the start of the election campaign for the upcoming local elections scheduled for 5 November in Moldova was set for 6 October.
According to a communication from the CEC, electoral candidates are prohibited from using administrative resources. This includes a ban on infrastructure projects or purchases that are financed from the state budget, the use of state equipment and other state resources.
State or associated structures and institutions may not provide state property or services to electoral contestants, except on the basis of a contract and on equal terms.
In addition, electoral contestants are prohibited from organising various events or demonstrations involving artists and performers and using them for political campaigning. Nor can they display their campaign symbols at such events.
However, candidates may organise meetings with voters and local governments should ensure equal opportunities for such events.
It is important to note that candidates whose cases are reviewed by District Election Boards will start campaigning on the day of their registration.
