The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) announced new maximum prices for gasoline and diesel fuel, which will come into force on August 3. According to ANRE, the price of 95 gasoline will be 25 lei 72 bani per liter (up by 11 bani), while the price of diesel fuel will be 21 lei 90 bani per liter (up by 25 bani).
ANRE notes that the cost of petroleum products continues to rise due to the increased demand on the world market and the growth of Platts quotations. In the last three days, the Platts quote for diesel has increased by more than $50 per ton, an increase of approximately 6% compared to the end of last week. Since the beginning of July, the price of diesel on international exchanges has increased by about 28% and gasoline by about 19%.
The fuel market has also been impacted by decisions by some countries to reduce oil production or exports, as well as the bombing of port infrastructure in Ukraine by the Russian Federation. This led to an increase in insurance costs for vessels transporting oil products in the Black Sea, including the port of Giurgiulesti.
All these factors affect fuel prices in Moldova, which is reflected in the new maximum rates for gasoline and diesel fuel.
