The distribution of firewood for the winter period started in the northern part of Moldova. First of all, firewood was given to social institutions, and then assistance is provided to people in difficult situations.
The cost of the wood has noticeably increased by almost 300 lei compared to last year. In the commune of Solcani, Soroca district, there were many requests for firewood. People come to the forest every day to buy firewood and bring it home.
In the forest areas of Soroca, Floresti, Drochia and Donduseni, a major clearing has been carried out before the onset of cold weather. Foresters have collected large stocks of wood, and now the mass distribution of sawn timber has begun.
Serghei Revenco, responsible for the forestry in Şolcani, spoke about the provision of products to the population of the neighbouring districts, town halls, schools and kindergartens. Priority is given to the needy, elderly and large families.
Some people, faced with a sharp drop in temperature, rush to the forestry for firewood, expressing gratitude for the help provided.
Soroka Forestry has 15 thousand hectares of forest in its hands, and this year more than 4 thousand square metres of wood is available for direct purchase. The head of the leskhoz, Adrian Rotar, emphasised that when distributing wood, priority is given to the needy, elderly and large families. He expressed hope that all consumers will be able to get the necessary firewood supplies.
