Moldovans this season will receive compensation for gas and heat from November to March based on their energy vulnerability level. There are 7 categories of vulnerability level, defined according to the percentage of income used to pay utility bills. Labour Minister Alex Buzu explained that compensations will be provided for different categories, ranging from those who use 5% of income to those who use 40%.
According to the minister, the government will compensate an average of 33 per cent of the gas tariff, which will vary depending on the degree of vulnerability. As for district heating, 58% of the tariff will be compensated, again depending on the level of vulnerability.
At the moment 610 thousand households have already applied for heat compensation. Last year, more than 760 thousand Moldovan households received compensation for electricity, heat and natural gas totalling 3.7 billion lei, a significant part of which was provided by external partners.
