Medics from the hospital, which bears the name of Tom Chorbe, protested in front of the government building, marching against the proposed reorganisation of their medical institution. Their demand is that measures be taken to optimise the hospital’s operations rather than liquidating it. This information was reported by realitatea.md.
On the posters of the doctors could be seen the following appeals: “Save the past for posterity”, “Save the hospital”, “Reforms and optimisation, not liquidation”, “Do not touch what you did not build and does not belong to you”.
Earlier, medics from Tom Chorbae Hospital and Dermatology Hospital submitted petitions asking not to merge their medical centres. The Health Ministry says only joint management is planned and neither hospital will be closed.
According to the proposed draft published by the Ministry of Health, the Tom Chorbe Infectious Diseases Hospital will be reorganised and it will absorb the Dermatology and Infectious Diseases Hospital.
The Health Ministry explains its decision by saying that the Tom Chorbae Hospital building is old and needs to be renovated, while the Dermatology Hospital building can be adapted to modern standards. The ministry also said that the separate management of the two hospitals would lead to unjustified additional expenses.
