Moldovan judoka Denis Vieru demonstrated outstanding sports achievements, winning a silver medal at the Masters tournament in Hungary. In the final of the 66 kg weight category, he failed to defeat Japanese athlete Ryoma Tanaka.
Denis Vieru was able to win on his way to the finals with victories over athletes from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Italy and Ukraine. His successful performances confirm his high level of training and talent in judo.
Last year Denis Vieru already won a bronze medal at the Masters tournament in Jerusalem, making it his first podium at this level. This year, he has continued his outstanding performance, winning bronze medals at the World Championships and European Championships.
Deservedly, Denis Vieru was recognized as the best athlete of Moldova by the Sports Press Association for his outstanding achievements in judo.
