The national telecom operator Moldtelecom notified subscribers about the planned increase of fixed telephony tariffs up to 40 lei from January. The decision is conditioned by the necessity to adjust prices due to the increase of expenses for electricity, rent, maintenance, fuel and equipment. Moldtelecom Marketing Director, Rodica Hurmuzache, emphasised that the current tariffs have not changed for more than ten years, which causes losses for the company.
The new tariff of 40 lei will offer improved conditions, including unlimited calls in Moldtelecom fixed and mobile networks. It is important to mention that the current tariffs limit the number of minutes and are meant only for local calls, not including calls to mobile networks, which are currently additionally charged.
However, the subscribers using Moldtelecom fixed Internet and switching to SIP-telephony will not be affected by this change of tariffs. Also, the current Moldtelecom fixed Internet subscribers will not be affected by the increase.
At the moment, Moldtelecom subscribers pay 24 lei for a standard fixed telephony subscription (300 minutes). The “Economy” subscription (200 minutes) and the preferential subscription (700 minutes) remain at the rate of 6 lei.
