From 18 January 2024, Chisinau International Airport will use the new abbreviation RMO, which stands for “Republic of Moldova”. This was announced by Andrei Spinu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, via social networks.
He noted that the previous abbreviation KIV, which stands for the Russian name of Chisinau, will no longer be used on air cards. Spinu wished pleasant journeys to the passengers.
The Chisinau airport was previously concessioned to AviaInvest, but on 23 November 2022, as a result of a decision by the Chisinau Court of Appeal, it returned to state control. The authorities are currently considering the possibility of concessioning the airport again.
