A specialised cyber security education centre is preparing to open in Chisinau, which will operate inside the Technical University of Moldova. Financial experts and project managers have already inspected the facility, and the work is expected to be completed this spring.
The project will equip 12 classrooms in the Cybersecurity Academy. These rooms will be maximally protected and equipped with modern technologies that will prevent unauthorised access to information, as well as excluding access of hackers.
The Cybersecurity Academy headquarters will cover a thousand square metres and will include classrooms, high-tech laboratories, and events for 400 people or more.
This educational project focuses on training government officials from various levels of government in cybersecurity. The aim is to reduce security incidents as well as mitigate risks and prevent such incidents. The vice-rector for digitalisation at the Technical University of Moldova, Dinu Turcanu, stressed that the focus is on training specialists for effective cyber security measures.
The project is implemented with the support of various organisations, including the US Agency for International Development, the Swedish government and Google, which invested about 700 thousand dollars in this initiative. The total budget of the Cybersecurity Academy, taking into account Moldova’s investment, is five million dollars.
