PCRM deputy Diana Caraman announced this during a press conference on Friday, November 1. She stated that, according to the protocol presented by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) to the Constitutional Court (which previously recognized the referendum results and constitutional amendments), 1,531,392 people participated in the referendum on October 20, as reported by infotag.md.
“According to CEC data, 749,719 people voted ‘for’, which represents 48.9%, not 50.35% as indicated by the official results. It is unclear on what basis the CEC excluded 42,518 people who spoiled their ballots from the count. The CEC knowingly acted to falsify the final results of the referendum. This indicates a serious criminal offense.
Therefore, we are preparing a complaint to the General Prosecutor’s Office regarding the falsification of the referendum results. If anyone thinks they can escape responsibility, they should know that the statute of limitations for such crimes is quite long, and I am confident that those responsible will be punished,” she said.
