Prime Minister Dorin Recean stated that the government is currently working on forming a group of international lawyers who will assist in the return of Moldova’s energy assets, which were confiscated by Russia. In response to a question about the possibility of following the example of the Ukrainian company “Naftogaz,” which won an international arbitration case against “Gazprom,” Recean mentioned that the government is considering all available legal options, according to bani.md.
“This is about returning Moldova’s assets that were confiscated, including through illegal means, from various sectors, especially the energy sector. These include Moldovagaz and the Cuciurgan Power Plant, which were seized by Russia,” said the Prime Minister.
Recean added that the authorities in Moldova are seeking potential legal consultants to support the government in this process. The return of energy assets is an important national priority, considering its direct connection to the country’s energy security. The government emphasized that, if possible, it will follow a process similar to that of Ukraine to protect Moldova’s interests at the international level.
