In the night from Monday to Tuesday, firefighters in Moldova quickly extinguished a fire in a private house in the village of Zguritsa, Drochia district. The call about the fire came on 7 November at 00:09.
Rescuers and firefighters who arrived at the scene found that the fire had engulfed a house with an area of 167 m2. This information was reported through the telegram channel of the Main Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova (GIChS of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova).
The officers managed to avoid the explosion of the gas cylinder, as they promptly removed it from the house.
But the 67-year-old owner of the house was rescued by neighbours before the fire brigade arrived. The fire was localised at 00:42 and fully extinguished at 03:00.
Preliminarily, the fire could have arisen due to a faulty electric blanket.
In this regard, GCHS urges citizens to strictly observe safety rules when using electrical equipment as a source of heat. The use of faulty appliances or homemade devices should be avoided.
Firefighters also remind about the importance of following fire safety rules when using heating cookers and gas boilers in the cold season. In case of emergencies, it is urgent to contact the emergency call centre at 112.
