Today marks 500 days since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. During this tragic period, peaceful people were subjected to horror and violence. Maya Sandu, President of Moldova, expressed her full support to the Ukrainian people in this difficult situation.
For 500 days, Ukrainians who had been living peacefully on their land were suddenly awakened by the sound of explosions and the rumble of tanks. Countless acts of violence, death and destruction were committed. Women were raped and children were bombed.
Nevertheless, Ukrainians did not remain idle. Men and women stood up to defend their country, valiantly fighting the invaders. Many people were forced to leave their homes and seek refuge in other parts of Ukraine or abroad. Violence and destruction spread everywhere.
Moldova became a haven for Ukrainians who sought safety and protection. We support Ukraine and will continue to help it in every way we can. Moldova will continue to trade with Ukraine to support its economy. As part of the international community, we are joining forces with Ukraine to hold Russia accountable for its war crimes.
We believe that Ukraine is destined for victory. Ukrainians are a peace-loving people, and we stand with them in this difficult struggle.
Glory to Ukraine! – Maia Sandu wrote on her Facebook page.
