In Moldova, sexual violence and discrimination in the workplace will become illegal after the ratification of the International Labor Organization Convention No. 190 on violence and harassment at work. The country’s authorities are introducing new regulations granting the right to claim compensation for those who have been victims of harassment at work, according to realitatea.md.
These changes apply not only to those who are formal employees, but also to those who work regardless of their status under contract. This includes people in training, internships, apprentices, employees whose employment contract has been terminated, volunteers, job seekers and candidates for employment, and those who exercise the powers, duties or responsibilities of an employer.
Employers are required to inform all employees of the new rules, the procedure for resolving harassment cases, and the rights granted to employees. Internal regulations will also be amended and investigative complaints will be filed in case of violations.
