Children with Romanian citizenship living in Moldova will now receive increased allowances from the Romanian state starting from 1 January. This change also affects pensions, social allowances for pensioners, and salaries of some civil servants in Romania. The minimum pension or social allowance for pensioners has increased from 1,125 to 1,281 Romanian lei, while child allowances have increased by about 14 percent. To account for the rising prices of products and services, the Romanian government has decided to increase the allowance for children up to two years old to 718 Romanian lei, equivalent to around 2,700 Moldovan lei. For children aged between two and 18, the allowance is now 291 Romanian lei, which is approximately equal to 1,100 Moldovan lei. Additionally, starting from 2023, the child allowance will be indexed annually based on the average inflation rate. These changes aim to provide better financial support and assistance to Romanian citizens living in Moldova.
