
Prime Minister Dorin Recean expressed joy and importance of the moment when the European Commission invited the EU member states to start talks on Moldova’s accession to the European Union. He stressed that this decision is the result of a long and hard work, including the harmonisation of the national and European legislation, the consolidation of institutions and the modernisation of towns and villages. Recean also emphasised the importance of adapting the standards and values of the European community.
The prime minister said that this is an important day for Moldova and emphasised that this decision is the result of citizens’ choice. He also stressed that this is only the beginning of the road and urged to continue working hard to become full EU members. Recean also said that this decision will be discussed at a summit of the European Political Community in December, where a final decision on the launch of negotiations will be taken.
It is important to note that the European Commission today proposed that the EU member states start negotiations on Moldova’s accession to the EU.
