Ukrainian mass media report that the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleksandr Litvinenko, has warned about the beginning of the Kremlin’s preparations for future aggression against Moldova. In an article for Interfax-Ukraine, Litvinenko notes that Russia views military conflicts, including aggression against Moldova, as one of the fronts in the global fight against the West, especially the USA.
Litvinenko emphasises that Moldova and Baltic states such as Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have become a priority for the Kremlin. Russian authorities, citing alleged violation of the rights of Russian-speaking citizens in these countries, have already started preparations for aggressive actions. Litvinenko also notes that after the expulsion of Russian spy diplomats, Russia is actively placing its agents in European countries, especially in the south, through the establishment of businesses.
The head of the Foreign Intelligence Service warns against the possibility of a full-scale war, pointing to signs that the infrastructure for sabotage is being prepared. Trained by the experience of the Soviet period, Litvinenko also emphasises the importance of dealing with such threats.
The article recalls Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s remarks at the European Political Community summit in Kishinev, where he warned against expanding aggression by Putin. The Lithuanian President, Gitanas Nauseda, warns that if Russia succeeds in subduing Ukraine in a military conflict, the Kremlin could direct its aggression to other targets, which is unacceptable.
