An 18-year-old young man from the village of Ustia in Glodeni district was temporarily arrested for 72 hours on charges of murder and attempted murder. According to the police version, he is suspected of killing a 74-year-old woman and attacking a 62-year-old man with a knife, after which he locked him in a dugout in a field, covering him with earth. Thanks to prompt police intervention, the man was found alive.
Events unfolded on May 13, when police received a call about a 74-year-old woman found dead in her home. The results of the examination showed that she had died from multiple wounds.
The same day led to the discovery of the suspect, who turned out to be a neighbor of the victims. He was found at home in an intoxicated state.
When questioned, the suspect was confused in his statement. While searching his home and neighborhood, police heard a cry for help from underground.
An excavation revealed a dugout containing an injured man. He reported that on May 11, he and the suspect had been drinking alcohol together and a conflict ensued, during which he was injured and trapped in the dugout.
The suspect was temporarily arrested for 72 hours and an investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
