Over the past 15 years, Moldova has successfully redirected its trade from Russia and the CIS to the European Union, EFTA countries, the USA, Canada and the UK, accounting for 70% of total trade. This transition demonstrates the country’s flexibility and ability to transform. The Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Dumitru Alaiba, emphasized this fact after the business forum on February 5.
On his social networks, the minister shared that digitalization for Moldova is an opportunity to change the way the state interacts with citizens and entrepreneurs, fighting corruption and bureaucracy. In six months, the number of digital government services has grown by 51%, and the country aims to digitize 75% of services by the end of the year and 100% in the near future. In 2023, the simplification of procedures brought entrepreneurs the equivalent of 0.5% of GDP, and Moldova is ambitiously aiming for the equivalent of 2% of annual GDP.
The minister also highlighted the benefits of cooperation with Moldova, including simplified labor contracts for citizens of 47 countries and support for remote work through the Contactless Business package. A unique dividend tax model encourages company growth.
“Moldova strives for European integration, offering stability to investors. Despite the challenges, we are on the rise with huge potential for investment,” the minister concluded.
