The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) reported that the Moldovan government led by Maia Sandu violated democratic principles. They claim that the government has blocked the implementation of a European Court of Human Rights ruling that concerned their leader Vlad Filat. This has prevented Filat from running in the elections, which the PLDM says violates citizens’ rights to choose and be elected.
PLDM condemns the government’s actions as a threat to the democratic and European values that Moldova has pledged to uphold. The party emphasizes that the current government is using elections and government resources to consolidate its power and undermine the country’s aspirations for integration with Europe.
PLDM also expressed doubts about the upcoming referendum, considering that it serves the electoral interests of the ruling party. They warn that the referendum could become a tool for destroying Moldova’s European path.
Despite this, the PLDM urges its supporters to participate in the referendum and vote “For” in order to support the country’s European future and defend the achievements the party has made for integration with the European Union. The party promises to continue fighting for a democratic and European Moldova.
