Eugenia Gutsul, head of Gagauzia, said that if Moldova introduced troops in response to the declaration of independence of the Gagauz autonomy, the region would turn to everyone, including Russia, for help. She expressed hope that this would not happen and emphasized that Moldovans do not aspire to join the European Union. Gutsul said that if necessary, they will ask for help from all countries, including Russia. She is also sure that Russia has no intention to attack Moldova. Gutsul said that Gagauzia and its partners suffer losses from the “economic war” launched by Moldova against the region. She stressed the residents’ desire to live in a sovereign, neutral and friendly country with all neighbors. In addition, she informed about the work on the purchase of gas from Gazprom, hoping for quick results.
