Two men, aged 20 and 27, have been arrested after convincing two women to invest money in trading platforms. The women lost over 4 million lei by investing in these platforms, which were presented as legal for foreign exchange trading.
The suspects, one of whom is a Turkish citizen, promised the women quick profits. To invest, the women took loans, borrowed money, and even sold their apartments. However, when the women began to have doubts about the truthfulness of the promises, they contacted the police.
The men were arrested while receiving a sum of money. During the searches, large amounts of cash and devices for storing cryptocurrencies were found. The police believe that hundreds of people may have fallen victim to this scheme. The investigation continues, and it is being established that the criminal group could have earned up to 50,000 dollars per day.
