PDS MP Virgiliu Pyslariuc expressed the opinion that Russia is actively waging a hybrid war in Moldova in order to prevent its integration into the European Union. According to him, Moscow no longer hides its aspirations to restore the empire, and the military actions in Ukraine serve as a vivid example of this policy.
Pyslariuc stressed that Russia is waging a conventional war in Ukraine, using violence and terror, while in Moldova it is waging a hybrid war, focusing on influencing the public opinion and changing the perception. The MP stressed the importance of the civilisational choice before the Moldovan citizens – between the European Union and the Russian Empire.
He said that Russia’s hybrid war against Moldova started since its independence and is backed by the Russian propaganda oriented towards the citizens through the media and politicians dependent on the Kremlin. The MP also specified that the fight in this war is mainly fought in the field of information, where 90 per cent of the actions are propaganda.
Pyslaruk emphasised that Russia is seeking to restore its empire not only through military actions, but also through economic leverage and energy blackmail. He also said that after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, international negotiations in the 5+2 format were cancelled and agreements with Russia were jeopardised.
