On Wednesday, August 28, the Romanian government will discuss a plan to buy the Giurgiulesti port in Moldova from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The deal will be carried out through the national company Administraţia Porturilor Maritime, which is managed by the Romanian Ministry of Transport.
Now the port of Giurgiulesti is managed by Danube Logistics SRL, a company owned by the EBRD.
Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced plans to buy the port as early as September 2023. This decision is due to the fact that Romania plans to become a key center for Ukraine’s reconstruction.
