In an interview with Vocea Basarabiei, head of state Maia Sandu expressed her opinion on Moldova’s current relations with Russia. The situation became extremely tense after the war in Ukraine started.
Sandu emphasised that the relations with the Kremlin cannot be called friendly at the moment. She expressed confidence that the future can bring changes, but only if Russia changes its attitude towards Moldova.
The head of state stressed that the countries will continue to develop friendly relations with those who respect the interests and citizens of Moldova. She also said that Moldova is becoming more independent, freeing itself from Russia’s energy influence, and supports diversification in other fields, such as trade.
Sandu stressed that the relations are built on mutually beneficial conditions and Moldova will insist on complete liberation from Russia’s dependence.
