President Maia Sandu announced a new National Strategy at her weekly briefing after a meeting of the Supreme Security Council. One of the key aspects of this strategy is the gradual resolution of the conflict in Transnistria. Sandu emphasised that a peaceful resolution of the situation is the only way and Russian troops should leave Moldovan territory.
She also emphasised that efforts will be made for the peaceful reintegration of Transnistria into Moldova and for extending the benefits of rapprochement with the European Union on the left bank of the Dniester River.
Another important component of the strategy is the fight against corruption. Sandu argues that corruption threatens the country’s security and makes it easier for foreign actors to interfere in Moldova’s internal affairs.
The strategy is based on three key objectives: ensuring the security of citizens, strengthening the state, and striving to join the European Union with the hope of peace and stability.
