The app previously introduced the ability to log in from multiple devices. Now, up to four phones can be linked to a single account. Each phone will connect to WhatsApp separately to protect personal messages, files, and calls using end-to-end encryption. If the main device is inactive, all other devices will automatically log out of the account.
Additionally, an alternative method of device linking is available. Users can input their phone number into the WhatsApp web version and link the device with a one-time code sent in a message.
Updates will be available to all users in the coming weeks. In January of this year, WhatsApp added the ability to send messages to oneself.
