Deputies have proposed a bill on a discount for the customs clearance of vehicles with foreign license plates, which can be up to 70%

This discount will be available for vehicles that were imported into Moldova before January 1, 2023 and are between 5 and 10 years old. They can be placed under a customs import regime with a 30% excise duty payment on the customs rate set for 2023. The tariff for vehicles older than 10 years has also been changed. If a car was imported before January 1, 2023, but no longer exists, its owner must pay 15,000 lei for the right to import another car. The legislative changes were made to comply with the restrictions of the new Customs Code, which prohibits vehicles with foreign license plates from staying in Moldova for more than 180 days per year.
