Igor Dodon, former president of Moldova and leader of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), expressed concerns about the actions of the Ministry of Defence towards local residents. He claims that some residents of the Stefan Voda neighbourhood have been drafted by the military commissariat in order to be included in the reserve corps. This has caused concern to Dodon, who believes that such actions may be related to preparations for a possible conflict.
The Moldovan Ministry of Defence responded to Dodon’s statements, arguing that calling local residents to military registration as part of the data update process is a standard practice performed annually according to the legislation. The agency emphasised that this process should not be perceived as a politically motivated act.
The situation has sparked debate about possible preparations for a conflict on Moldovan territory, but Defence Ministry officials maintain that this is just part of the regular procedure.
