“Electronic Tickets and Public Transport Modernization: Chisinau Develops Urban Mobility”
In Chisinau, after introducing 16 new buses added to the City Bus Fleet, the Mayor’s Office announced a new ambitious step in improving public transportation. The local authorities, together with the European Union, have launched an urban mobility project, which has received funding of 60 million lei.
The Mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, shared that within this project it is planned to introduce electronic tickets. However, he emphasized that the project is at the development stage and will be preceded by testing.
Ceban explained, “This is an initial project to collect statistical data. I ask residents not to confuse pilot projects where we analyze data on passengers, availability and functionality with the final project.”
With this new project, announced shortly after the acquisition of the new buses, Chisinau is promoting its strategy according to European standards, improving step by step the urban mobility and comfort of public transport.
