The Tofan Family’s Achievement: A Remarkable Solar Energy Park in Vechi
In the serene village of Vechi, the Tofan family has accomplished something remarkable – a park adorned with an impressive array of 2,716 solar panels. This park stands as the largest solar energy complex in the northern reaches of the country, offering vital electricity to the state for over a year. With the park’s energy storage calibrated monthly to weather conditions, it delivered 211,000 kilowatt hours of electricity in the prior month, reaping nearly 490,000 lei in revenue. However, as the fall and winter seasons approach, production expectations dim.
Despite the growing favor towards renewable energy sources, legislative snags persist, as highlighted by the park’s administrator. An agreement with ANRE initially seemed promising, but the subsequent imposition of charges for balancing has led to a one million lei delay over a span of 15 months, creating financial headwinds for the park’s operations.
During an insightful visit, Maia Sandu engaged in dialogues about these challenges with the park’s founder. Veaceslav Tofan, the visionary behind the PV park, expressed his concerns about the escalating bank rate, noting the shift from an initial 4% per annum in euros to the current 8%, a considerable financial burden.
Reassuringly, the Moldovan president pledged that the rate will stabilize as conditions improve. Veaceslav Tofan also highlighted the park’s accomplishments, underscoring their installed capacity of 1 megawatt and the substantial reduction of approximately 860 tons of CO2 emissions due to their renewable energy efforts. This endeavor not only holds promise from technical and technological standpoints but also stands as a crucial milestone in bolstering energy security.
As a testament to their commitment, the Tofan family invested around 400 euros for each solar panel, marking their enduring dedication to a sustainable future.
