The opinion of former Prime Minister Vladimir Filat, founder and chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), regarding Moldova and the European Union accession negotiations is of interest. In an interview with the Vocea Basarabiei TV channel, he emphasised that the preparation of the negotiations is more important than their beginning.
Filat criticised the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), which is in power, claiming that it has not fulfilled the promises made to the voters. He emphasised the difficult situation in the country’s agriculture and called for the declaration of a state of emergency to help farmers, many of whom are facing bankruptcy.
Filat also expressed dissatisfaction with the reforms, especially in the justice sector, and believes that they have not led to the expected results. He said that the reforms should be finalised with concrete results and should not press the population.
At the same time, Filat expressed surprise over the dismissal of Prosecutor-General Alexander Stoianoglo by the president, considering it illegal and pointing out a possible appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.
These statements by Vladimir Filat reflect his view on the political and economic situation in Moldova and provoke discussion in the society.
