At 8:35 a.m. on 2 December, a fire was reported at the Dubasari Specialised Boarding School. The incident occurred on the third floor in the class room, where the technician noticed smoke in the corridor. At the time of the fire, all the wards of the boarding school were in the dining room on the ground floor.
Two fire brigades arrived on the scene, but by that time 86 pupils and 21 teachers had already evacuated on their own. The area of the fire was 7 square metres and it was liquidated in five minutes. The victims were a shelf with educational literature, a cabinet, a TV set, mobile phones and a wooden window.
During the investigation it was found that the fire started due to a short circuit in the electrical wiring in the corner of the room, where there were several mobile phones connected to the same socket on charging at the same time.
