Maia Sandu, the President of Moldova, has said that her government is reviewing a number of agreements signed within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and is prepared to withdraw from some of them. She said that many of these documents are unnecessary and all are being analyzed.
Sandu also emphasized that Moldova is striving for European integration and can become a member of the European Union by the end of this decade.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, said that the Moldovan government has begun the process of denouncing some of the agreements signed within the CIS, and the question of the advisability of remaining in this organization is currently being considered.
Moldova is also concerned about Russia’s attempts to destabilize the situation in the republic, but Moscow denies these accusations.
