Transnistrian Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev, who represents Tiraspol at talks with Chisinau, said that relations with Moldova are now reduced to “restrictions and blockades by Chisinau”. In an interview with Russian media, he recalled that the conflict with Moldova has not been resolved for more than 30 years.
“Today the situation has not changed. Dialogue has become more difficult. Kishinev makes international negotiations difficult. Although we have had meetings and experts are working, we do not see that Moldova is ready to solve political and economic problems,” Ignatiev said.
According to him, since the beginning of this year Kishinev on the contrary creates new obstacles. Duties have been imposed on goods, there are no interbank relations, and three major Transnistrian enterprises have been stopped. Goods are not delivered to either the East or the West.
As for energy security, Ignatiev emphasized that this issue is important for both Tiraspol and Chisinau, and work in this direction continues.
In March 2024, the Security Service of Ukraine put Ignatiev on a wanted list. He is accused of calling for changing Ukraine’s borders and supporting Russia and its administration. Ignatiev is from the Odessa region and holds Russian and Ukrainian citizenship.
