At the moment, Moldova is establishing the best diplomatic relations since its independence. This information was confirmed by Daniela Morari, Moldova’s ambassador to the European Union. She stressed that the European Union understands the difficulties faced by Moldova and takes them into account when deciding on the launch of negotiations on the country’s accession to the EU. This information is reported by radiomoldova.md.
Daniela Morari said that the current assessment of the situation in Moldova is quite optimistic. Out of the nine necessary conditions for the negotiations with the EU, three have already been successfully fulfilled, three have made significant progress, while the remaining three will require additional efforts. She also specified that many of the goals have already been achieved and Moldova has provided updated information on the accomplished work. At the same time, there are still aspects to be worked on. Daniela Morari voiced hope that Moldova will manage to fully fulfill all the necessary requirements within the set deadlines.
In the coming fall, the European Commission will submit its assessment on the implementation of the nine recommendations, which were submitted to the country after it was granted the status of candidate for EU accession in June 2022. Depending on the results of the assessment, the Commission will determine whether to start negotiations on Moldova’s possible accession to the European Union.
