At a press conference in Moscow, Maria Zakharova expressed the opinion that Moldova is becoming a victim of NATO’s aspirations. She claims that the Moldovan authorities, under the guise of European integration, are increasing military tension and making the country part of the anti-Russian sphere of influence. In addition, they are, according to her, supporting Ukrainian neo-Nazis.
Zakharova also voiced her concerns about the participation of Moldovan mercenaries in the Ukrainian armed forces, noting that this contradicts Moldovan legislation. She criticized the fact that the returned mercenaries avoid punishment and also spread Russophobic propaganda.
Maria Zakharova emphasized that the actions of President Maia Sandu, who is a Romanian citizen, are aimed at Moldova’s destruction, not at its development. She also noted that the majority of Moldovans opposed the country’s membership in NATO and did not support military assistance to Ukraine.
