Labor and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu signed an agreement in Brussels that gives Moldova access to the European Social Fund (ESF+) funds for the first time. This will allow Moldova to get more financial means to carry out reforms.
The agreement is an important step in strengthening the relations between Moldova and the European Union, and its goal is to improve employment opportunities and promote social innovations in the country. By participating in the Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI) program, Moldova will receive financial and technical support for employment policies, social inclusion and poverty reduction.
“This is a crucial step towards Moldova’s European integration and the continuation of reforms, especially in employment and labor inspection. We are working to make Europe our home and aim to bring positive changes in the lives of our citizens, giving them access to decent work and quality social services,” said Minister Alexei Buzu.
The European Social Fund supports high levels of employment, fair social protection and the creation of a skilled and sustainable workforce ready for the labor market of the future. It also contributes to the creation of inclusive societies that strive to eradicate poverty and realize the principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights.
Moreover, the signed agreement will allow Moldova to participate in various European initiatives and projects aimed at supporting labor and social protection reforms. It will also facilitate the exchange of best practices with other EU Member States, which will help to develop effective and sustainable policies.
