At the end of October 2024, Moldova’s internal public debt reached 41 billion lei, which is an increase of 1.3 billion compared to the beginning of the year. This increase was driven by the issuance of government securities (GSS) worth 1.6 billion lei and the repayment of part of the GSS amounting to 330 million lei.
If the debt is divided among all citizens, each person owes nearly 17 thousand lei.
The average interest rate for government securities in 2024 was 4.65%, which is 3.97 percentage points lower than in 2023.
