Hydrological warning: The Prut River in Moldova may overflow its banks and cause flooding of fields in the north of the country.
According to the State Hydrometeorological Service of Moldova, from 9 to 12 July, the water level of the Prut River is expected to rise from the village of Criva to the town of Costesti. This is caused by heavy rainfall in the upper reaches of the Prut River in Ukraine.
The water level is expected to increase by 1.8 to 2.8 meters compared with the level recorded on July 8. In this regard, a “yellow” level of meteorological hazard is declared.
Floodplain meadows and agricultural land in the districts of Brican and Edinets may be flooded. Stay tuned for the latest news and advisories from local authorities and hydrologic services.
