U.S. President Joe Biden congratulated Maia Sandu on her historic re-election as President of Moldova. He also thanked the citizens of Moldova for their participation in the elections. Biden emphasized that the Moldovan people voted for Sandu’s vision of a safe, prosperous, and democratic Moldova.
The American president reminded that the elections took place just two weeks after the approval of the constitutional referendum on joining the European Union. Biden also addressed Russia’s involvement in the electoral process in Moldova, stating that Russia attempted to undermine democratic institutions and the electoral process but failed.
Furthermore, he highlighted that Moldovans exercised their democratic right to choose their future, opting for a path that aligns with the values of Europe and democracies around the world.
