The votes of the citizens of Moldova secured Maia Sandu a second presidential term. She became the first president of the country to be re-elected through direct voting. According to preliminary results, after processing all the protocols, Maia Sandu received 55.33% of the votes, while her opponent, Alexandr Stoianoglo, supported by the PSRM, received 44.67%. The vote difference between the two candidates was 179,320 votes.
The elections are considered valid, as more than 20% of voters turned out at the polling stations. The candidate who receives the highest number of votes is declared the winner.
