The Government of the Republic of Moldova approved the Protocol of the second extraordinary session of the Intergovernmental Hydrotechnical Commission, agreed on August 1, 2023. This Protocol concerns the application of the Agreement between the governments of Moldova and Romania on cooperation in the field of protection and sustainable use of the waters of the Prut and Danube, according to ipn.md.
The Ministry of Environment emphasizes the importance of intensifying cooperation between Moldova and Romania within the framework of this agreement, as well as of fulfilling the commitments undertaken.
Cooperation with the Romanian side is considered an important aspect of water management in a transboundary context. The decisions taken are important for both countries, including ensuring access to water resources for the population, as mentioned in the project information note.
The Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Romania on cooperation for the protection and sustainable use of the Prut and Danube waters was signed in Chisinau on June 28, 2010.
