According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihail Popșoi, Poland is actively supporting Moldova’s accession process to the European Union, as it currently holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union. In the coming weeks, Moldova will begin the first stages of negotiations for EU membership.
Popșoi mentioned that Poland is open to cooperation and shows complete openness in this process. Additionally, close collaboration with Denmark, which will take over the presidency after Poland, will play an important role in future progress. Strong relations with other EU member states will be crucial in the integration process, and Moldova intends to collaborate actively at all levels — from the government to the president — to strengthen the trust of its partners.
Regarding the negotiation clusters, these represent the division of the accession process into various areas, such as human rights, economy, and politics, each of which constitutes a separate block. The first cluster includes fundamental principles such as the rule of law and economic criteria. Opening a cluster means that Moldova will need to align its legislation with the norms and standards of the European Union.
