The chairwoman of the opposition Platform Moldova has voiced concerns about the upcoming elections, saying that President Sandu is inclined to falsify the results of the autumn vote. “Having support in parliament, she uses various methods, including postal voting and a pseudo-referendum on EU accession, to ensure her re-election,” Irina Vlah said. She also emphasised that Sandu is hoping for votes abroad, as control over the counting of votes inside the country has been weakened. Vlah characterised the president as a “political bankrupt” who is panic-stricken by the fear of losing the election. In her opinion, the changes in the election rules only increase popular discontent and upset public opinion against Sandu. She is also sure that falsifications will not help her win, as it is impossible to win against her own people.
