Irina Vlah, President of the Moldova Platform, recently inquired about the state of negotiations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova and NATO on a new partnership. Previously, it was agreed that consultations with NATO will begin in 2024 to develop a new cooperation program, which will enter into force in 2025 and last until 2028. In January 2024, the ministry clarified that the new partnership would involve new objectives, possibly influenced by regional security and the situation in Ukraine. Vlah also sought clarification on whether the draft of the new partnership would be open to public debate. She put several questions to Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi on the current state of negotiations with NATO, the provisions on which agreement has already been reached, the lack of communication from the Foreign Ministry on the new partnership, the provisions that are being discussed in the light of the security situation in the region, especially in Ukraine, and the possibility of public involvement in the review of the draft.
