Supporters of the Renaissance party, which is linked to Ilan Shor, held a protest in Chisinau. They set up several tents in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs building to protest against the actions of the police. The police had earlier removed several of the party’s tents where they were collecting signatures to recognize the ruling Action and Solidarity (PAS) party as unconstitutional.
“We held this action against the actions of the police, who removed tents in Balti, Edinet and Chisinau on orders. They even took down the banners. They are trying to prevent us from collecting signatures. If they don’t want to see the banners, we will start writing slogans on paper. Even if the tents are removed again, we will still collect signatures. It won’t stop us,” emphasized Olesia Vitnyanskaya, spokeswoman for the Revival Party.
We have asked for a comment from the Interior Ministry and will publish a response as soon as we receive it.
Earlier, in different cities, including Chisinau, Balti and Edinet, the police dismantled the tents set up by the Renaissance party to collect signatures. The Inspectorate General of Police stated that the party had violated the rules for distributing electoral materials.
