The authorities are considering the possibility of allocating additional resources to launch a new call for projects within the European Village program. Prime Minister Dorin Recean urged local elected representatives and representatives of the Rezina district authorities to strive to fulfill the commitments assumed in the European integration process. He noted that additional financing will be available during the preparatory phase for the EU accession. The European integration process remains a priority for the government, and the access to the European resources helps to build a viable state with independent institutions, a developed economy and a sustainable society. The prime minister expressed confidence that economic growth and prosperity are expected at this stage of preparation for the EU accession, which contribute to the improvement of the citizens’ living standards and the development of the communities. The meeting also touched on financing, wages, property tax, road repair and social assistance. The prevailing view was that the social assistance system needs to be revised to better categorize recipients and incentivize employment. The prime minister also emphasized the importance of the contribution of the local public administration. During his visit to Rezina district, Dorin Recean visited a furniture factory, a tourist boarding house, a family enterprise and an artisanal cheese factory.
