In the very centre of Chisinau, extensive works on the restoration of Tighina and Alexandru cel Bun streets have been completed. Currently, the process of acceptance of the completed works is underway.
“The works included reconstruction of the road surface, pavements for pedestrians, creation of new parking spaces and improvement of access roads. Works were also carried out to install a storm water drainage system, restore the street lighting system, as well as applying road markings and installing road signs,” Chisinau municipality representatives said in their Telegram channel.
According to the city authorities, the works on 31 August 1989 Street are also coming to an end, except for the paving stone section between Metropolitan Bănulescu Bodoni Street and A. Pushkin Street. This section will be temporarily closed to ensure preservation.
The mayor’s office stressed that the overhaul of three key streets – Tighina, Alexandru cel Bun and 31 August 1989 – was carried out within the second stage of the project “Rehabilitation of central streets and modernisation of street lighting in the centre of Chisinau”. This project is supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the EBRD Special Green Energy Fund.
